Recipe Name: Butter Chicken
Ingredients:
- 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1 cup plain yogurt
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- 2 tsp garam masala
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp ground coriander
- 1/2 tsp turmeric
- 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
- Salt to taste
- 4 tbsp butter
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1-inch piece of ginger, grated
- 1 cup tomato puree
- 1 cup heavy cream
- Fresh cilantro, for garnish
Instructions:
1. In a bowl, mix together the yogurt, lemon juice, garam masala, cumin, coriander, turmeric, cayenne pepper, and salt. Add the chicken pieces and marinate for at least 1 hour, or overnight for best results.
2. In a large skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Add the marinated chicken pieces and cook until browned on all sides. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
3. In the same skillet, melt the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter. Add the chopped onion, garlic, and ginger. Cook until the onions are soft and translucent.
4. Add the tomato puree to the skillet and cook for a few minutes until the sauce thickens.
5. Return the cooked chicken pieces to the skillet and stir to coat them in the sauce. Cook for another 5-10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
6. Pour in the heavy cream and stir until well combined. Simmer for an additional 5 minutes.
7. Garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.
8. Serve the butter chicken hot with rice or naan bread.
