Make Chicken Biryani

Chicken Biryani

Ingredients:
- 2 cups basmati rice
- 500g chicken, cut into pieces
- 1 large onion, thinly sliced
- 2 tomatoes, chopped
- 1/2 cup plain yogurt
- 2 tablespoons biryani masala
- 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 4 cups water
- Salt to taste
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
- Fried onions for garnish
- Ghee or oil for cooking

Instructions:
1. Wash the basmati rice and soak it in water for 30 minutes. Drain and set aside.
2. In a large pot, heat some ghee or oil and add the cumin seeds. Once they splutter, add the sliced onions and sauté until golden brown.
3. Add the ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a minute until fragrant.
4. Add the chicken pieces and cook until they are no longer pink.
5. Stir in the chopped tomatoes, biryani masala, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Cook for a few minutes until the tomatoes are soft.
6. Add the plain yogurt and mix well. Cook for another 5 minutes.
7. Add the soaked rice and water to the pot. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to low, cover, and cook until the rice is tender and the chicken is cooked through.
8. Once done, fluff the biryani with a fork and garnish with fresh coriander leaves and fried onions.
9. Serve hot with raita or salad on the side.
