Make Classic Beef Lasagna
Recipe: Classic Beef Lasagna
Ingredients:
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 1 can (6 oz) tomato paste
- 1/2 cup water
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 2 teaspoons dried basil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 12 lasagna noodles
- 15 oz ricotta cheese
- 1 egg
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions:
1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
2. In a large skillet, cook ground beef, onion, and garlic over medium heat until meat is browned. Drain excess fat.
3. Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, water, sugar, basil, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
4. In a separate bowl, mix ricotta cheese and egg until well combined.
5. Spread a thin layer of meat sauce in the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish. Place 4 lasagna noodles on top.
6. Spread a third of the ricotta mixture over the noodles, then sprinkle with a third of the mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses.
7. Repeat layers two more times, ending with the remaining cheeses on top.
8. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 25 minutes until bubbly and golden.
9. Let lasagna stand for 10 minutes before serving. Enjoy your delicious classic beef lasagna!
