Recipe Name: Classic Vanilla Custard

Ingredients:
- 4 large eggs
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 4 cups whole milk
- Ground nutmeg for sprinkling (optional)

Instructions:
1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C). Place a large baking dish filled with water on the bottom rack to create a water bath for the custard.

2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, sugar, salt, and vanilla extract until well combined.

3. Slowly pour in the whole milk while continuously whisking the mixture. Make sure all the ingredients are thoroughly incorporated.

4. Strain the custard mixture through a fine-mesh sieve to remove any lumps or air bubbles.

5. Divide the custard mixture evenly among six ramekins or custard cups. Place the ramekins in the water bath in the preheated oven.

6. Bake for about 40-45 minutes or until the custard is set around the edges but still slightly jiggly in the center.

7. Remove the custard from the oven and let it cool to room temperature. Once cooled, refrigerate the custard for at least 2 hours or overnight to allow it to fully set.

8. Before serving, you can sprinkle a pinch of ground nutmeg on top of each custard for added flavor and decoration.

9. Serve the custard chilled and enjoy its creamy texture and rich vanilla flavor.

Note: This recipe can be easily doubled or halved depending on your serving needs.
