Creamy Potato and Turnip Gratin
Ingredients:
- 2 large potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
- 2 large turnips, peeled and thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons of butter
- 2 tablespoons of all-purpose flour
- 2 cups of heavy cream
- 2 cups of grated Gouda cheese
- 2 tablespoons of chopped fresh coriander
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
1. Preheat oven to 375°F.
2. Grease a 9x13 baking dish with butter.
3. Arrange the potatoes and turnips in an even layer in the baking dish.
4. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
5. Add the flour and whisk until combined.
6. Gradually add the cream, whisking constantly until the mixture is smooth.
7. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
8. Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the grated cheese and chopped coriander.
9. Pour the cheese sauce over the potatoes and turnips in the baking dish.
10. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
11. Bake for 40 minutes, or until the potatoes and turnips are tender and the top is golden brown.
12. Serve warm. Enjoy!
