Indian-Style Rice and Dal
Ingredients:
-1 onion, diced
-1 cup uncooked white rice
-1/2 cup uncooked dal
-2 tablespoons oil
-1 teaspoon cumin
Instructions:
1. Heat the oil in a large pot over medium heat.
2. Add the onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
3. Add the cumin and cook for another minute.
4. Add the rice and dal and stir to combine.
5. Add 2 cups of water and bring to a boil.
6. Reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 20 minutes.
7. Remove from heat and let sit for 10 minutes.
8. Fluff with a fork and serve.
