Recipe Name: Date Bars
Ingredients:
- 1 cup dates, pitted and chopped
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
Instructions:
1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C) and grease a baking dish.
2. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour and sugar.
3. Cut in the softened butter using a pastry cutter or your hands until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
4. Press half of the mixture into the bottom of the prepared baking dish to form the crust.
5. In a saucepan, combine the chopped dates with a little water and cook over low heat until the dates soften and form a thick paste.
6. Spread the date mixture over the crust in the baking dish.
7. Sprinkle the remaining flour and sugar mixture over the date layer.
8. Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
9. Allow the date bars to cool completely before cutting into squares and serving.
