Ingredients:
- 2 large onions, thinly sliced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 pre-made pie crust
- 1/2 cup shredded Gruyere cheese
- Fresh thyme leaves for garnish

Instructions:
1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
2. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
3. Add the sliced onions and cook, stirring occasionally, until they start to caramelize and turn golden brown, about 20-25 minutes.
4. Sprinkle the sugar over the onions and continue to cook for another 5 minutes until the onions are fully caramelized.
5. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
6. Roll out the pre-made pie crust and place it in a tart pan.
7. Spread the caramelized onions evenly over the pie crust.
8. Sprinkle the shredded Gruyere cheese on top of the onions.
9. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
10. Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly before garnishing with fresh thyme leaves.
11. Slice and serve the caramelized onion tart warm or at room temperature.
