Orange Sour Cream Cake

Ingredients:

-1 cup all-purpose flour
-1 teaspoon baking powder
-1/2 teaspoon baking soda
-1/4 teaspoon salt
-1/2 cup butter, softened
-1 cup white sugar
-2 eggs
-1 teaspoon vanilla extract
-1/2 cup sour cream
-1/2 cup freshly squeezed orange juice
-1/2 cup freshly grated orange zest
-1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Instructions:

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9 inch round cake pan.

2. In a medium bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt.

3. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.

4. Beat in the sour cream, orange juice and orange zest. Gradually add in the flour mixture, stirring until just blended. Fold in the walnuts, if desired.

5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack and cool completely.
