Recipe: Polish Apple Cake
Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 4 large apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Instructions:
1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
3. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
4. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until well combined.
5. Spread half of the batter into the prepared baking dish.
6. Arrange the sliced apples evenly over the batter. Sprinkle the chopped walnuts and cinnamon over the apples.
7. Spread the remaining batter over the apples, smoothing the top with a spatula.
8. Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
