Poppy Seed Cake

Ingredients:

- 1 cup butter, softened
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 tablespoons poppy seeds

Instructions:

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.

2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time.

3. In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture alternately with the milk. Stir in the poppy seeds.

4. Pour the batter into the prepared pan. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes before turning out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
