Make South Indian Rice Meal
Recipe Name: South Indian Rice Meal
Ingredients:
- 1 cup rice
- 1/2 cup toor dal
- 1/4 cup tamarind pulp
- 1 tsp mustard seeds
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp asafoetida
- 2-3 dried red chilies
- Curry leaves
- Salt to taste
- Water as needed
For Rasam:
- 2 tomatoes, chopped
- 1/2 tsp rasam powder
- 1/2 tsp pepper powder
- Coriander leaves for garnish
For Sambar:
- 1 cup mixed vegetables (carrot, beans, potato)
- 2 tbsp sambar powder
- 1/4 tsp fenugreek seeds
- 1/4 tsp red chili powder
For Kalan:
- 1 cup yogurt
- 1/2 cup raw banana, cubed
- 1/2 cup yam, cubed
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp red chili powder
- 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
Instructions:
1. Cook rice and toor dal together in a pressure cooker with water until soft. Keep aside.
2. In a pan, heat oil and add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, dried red chilies, and curry leaves. Saute until fragrant.
3. Add tamarind pulp, turmeric powder, asafoetida, salt, and water. Let it simmer for a few minutes.
4. For Rasam: Add chopped tomatoes, rasam powder, pepper powder, and water. Let it boil and garnish with coriander leaves.
5. For Sambar: Boil mixed vegetables with water, sambar powder, fenugreek seeds, and red chili powder until cooked.
6. For Kalan: Boil raw banana and yam with turmeric powder, red chili powder, and cumin seeds. Add yogurt and simmer until thickened.
7. Serve the cooked rice with rasam, sambar, and kalan. Enjoy your South Indian Rice Meal!
